Buddy and Karyn Roussel have been sharing their backyard, their home, and their love of music with friends and fellow music lovers for years. What started with a few friends getting together to enjoy some live music has grown into something much bigger — a place where musicians can play, people can make new friends, and everybody feels like they belong.
Buddy has always believed that the best things in life are meant to be shared. A good song. A cold drink. A great story. A sunset on the water. And especially a backyard full of people who came together because they love music.
Karyn is every bit as much a part of what makes Buddy’s Backyard special. From Karyn’s Korner to everything that happens behind the scenes, she helps turn each show into an experience rather than simply a concert.
Over the years, Buddy’s Backyard has hosted artists from across the TropRock community and beyond. We’ve had music on the main stage, music on the deck, music on the pontoon boat — and sometimes music just happens wherever somebody happens to pick up a guitar.
We’ve also been fortunate enough to be recognized as a TRMA Award-winning House Concert Venue, but the awards aren’t what keep us doing this.
It’s the people.
The friendships.
The musicians who become family.
The guests who come for their first show and keep coming back.
And those magical nights when everybody is singing along and you realize there’s nowhere else you’d rather be.
So whether you’re a longtime friend, a first-time visitor, a musician looking for a place to play, or someone who simply loves live music and good people, we hope you’ll feel at home here.
